If you're looking to buy an iPod - new or refurbished, a Video, Nano or Shuffle we have rounded up some of the better places to begin your iPod shopping.

We have paid attention to the most frequent questions - what is the cheapest iPod, should I purchase a refurbished model, do the free iPod offers really work.

If you are not certain about which iPod to buy you should consider then check the specifications. iPod Shuffle specs, iPod Nano specs and iPod Video specs.

As general guideline, if you are more concerned with using your iPod for working out, running, aerobics classes rather than storing every song you ever heard or watching the latest Lost episode - then the Shuffle or even Nano are preferred, they have no moving parts and nothing to break. They don't play video and while they each hold lots of music you can't put your entire library on these models. If the full blown iPod experience is more to your taste and your want plenty of storage for your tunes, audio books, video, games, then consider buying the iPod Video.

By the way, you can use your iPod Video when you work out and still have the storage and usage experiences noted but it doesn't work the other way no video with Shuffle or Nano and somewhat limited storage.

Buy New iPod

If you want you purchase a new iPod the Apple Store isn't a bad place to start either. Since Apple demands that retailers agree to sell at a minimum price there usually is not much difference in the retail prices. Apple offers free shipping and often free engraving along with very prompt service.

But our customers ask, "isn't it true I can buy an iPod and get some accessories free with purchase"?

Some retailers get around the guaranteed minimum pricing that Apple demands by offering package deals. This is usually in form of "buy an iPod and we'll give you a free case" Not bad but usually you'll end up wanting a different case, never the less it is a good idea to watch for these bundles, sometimes they do offer good value.

We would start here at overstock.com. They sometimes offer a great deal on iPods but they go fast so you'll need to check back every day.
