iPod Cables & Connections

Use the cables here to connect your iPod to your home stereo, read digital media cards(used in cameras) or just connect your camera directly to your iPod. Want to share your iPod music with a friend, all you need is a headphone splitter and both of you can listen together (perfect when in a car or airplane).>
iPod auxiliary cable - what is it?
The question frequently comes up about the iPod auxiliary cable, what is it, what do you use it for and where can you buy it. This cable can be purchased from Radio Shack or right here, cost about $10 - $15 and is used to connect your iPod to any stereo or amplifier with an auxiliary jack in port. This cable has a 1/8" (about 3.5mm) jack plug on both ends.
Need an example, go look at your stereo tuner - that's the box that connects your speakers, CD players etc into your stereo system. You'll most likely see a jack labled auxiliary input. Connect your iPod to this jack using a simple auxiliary cable and you'll be able to listen to your iPod through your stereo. A simple, straight forward and cheap connection. You won't be able to control your iPod without having to get up and manually control it.
An old problem now solved!
Have you been searching for an iPod cable dock extender? This simple device will allow you to connect a cable or plug your ipod into a dock when you still have it in the case. As you probably have discovered when your iPod is installed in your case the dock at the bottom is recessed and often will not fit in the docking station of your radio or FM transmitter.
Dock Extender Tired of constantly peeling your iPod from its case to use your docking station or iPod speaker system? Does attaching dock-mounted accessories like a voice recorder make you speechless? No matter what case you own, SendStations iPod Cable Dock Extender has been designed to fit it. Your Dock Extender uses the same compact iPod plug as found on the standard iPod docking cable from Apple, so its compatible with all cases that have a dock connector opening.
To connect your iPod to your stereo and remotely control it - go look at iPod docks with remotes and connecting the iPod to your home stereo.
The auxiliary cable is now being put to good use in some newer cars. In recent years many models come with stereo systems that have a front mounted auxiliary jack. If you're fortunate enough to have one just buy the cable and now listen to your iPod through those great stereo speakers the car salesman talked you into purchasing. This is one of the best methods of listening in your car. Audio quality is good but again you control your iPod manually. - Editors
