    Looking for iPod Nano Accessories

Apple introduces 2nd generation iPod Nanos.

The new Nano iPod MP3 player is available in 2GB (500 songs at $149) 4 GB (1000 songs* for $199) and 8 GB (2000 songs* at $249 ) capacities. It stores both music and photos (up to 25,000 photos) in USB flash memory rather than a hard drive, and now comes in colored aluminum cases iPod Nano colors(color depends on model).
It is small in size - less than the thickness of #2 pencil (See comparison photo) and very light weight. See Nano photo with dimensions here.

Like the iPod Video the Nano features a color screen display.Use the screen to view album art, photo slideshow and play built-in games in color. Syncs photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only) and PNG formats.

    • 1.5 inch (diagonal) liquid crystal display with blue-white LED backlight
    • 176 x 132 pixel resolution, .168-mm dot pitch
    • Support for display of multiple languages and characters simultaneously
The Nano uses the familiar Click Wheel control and the same 30-pin dock connector found on Minis and newer iPods making it compatible with many of the same accessories designed for the iPod.  Unlike other iPod models, the headphone port is on the bottom of the Nano, next to the dock connector while the Hold switch remains on top.

Compatible with both Windows and Mac.
    Mac requirements
Macintosh computer with USB port (USB 2.0 recommended)
Mac OS X v10.3.4 or later

    Windows requirements
PC with USB port or card (USB 2.0 recommended)
Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later, or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later

The Nano can be synced to a Mac or PC using a USB 2.0 connection only, although you can still use a FireWire connection to charge it. The synch process is speedy and it will take a little under 10 minutes to copy approximately 1000 songs.

Your iPod Nano can hold a lot more than songs and you can do a lot more with it than listen to music.

There are plenty of extra features, including using it as an external disk, alarm, or sleep timer. The Nano can show times of day in other parts of  the world and store contacts, calendars, to-do lists, and notes. Use your iPod Nano as a stop watch or lap timer and the screen locks to protect your notes from prying eyes. The iPod Nano also comes with 4 built-in games.

Thinking about buying one what comes in the box?
    • iPod Nano
    • Earphones
    • USB 2.0 cable
    • Dock adapter
    • Quick Start guide

Most of the accessories that worked and fit the 1rst generation of IPod Nano will also work the 2nd generation. The exceptions may be some of the hard acrylic and aluminum cases since the new Nano is a little thinner and longer with more rounded corners and the hold switchh has been moved slightly. Some of the older docks will no longer work so check for compatibility before you purchase. The corners have been rounded and the hold switch moved slightly.

We are adding new Nano products weekly to our iPod accessories directory.
